Maintaining a safe campus requires a commitment by every member of the University of South Florida community. USF is a large campus in a metropolitan city. While we have very strong measures in place to increase our safety on campus, the University Police can’t do it alone. Do you part! Lock your doors – car, office and residence hall. Don’t leave valuables in sight or unattended in your car, office, classroom or the library. Call University Police if you need help or identify something that just doesn’t look right!

You will find blue lights around campus which are directly connected to the police dispatch. Don’t hesitate to pick up the phone at that blue light

if you need help or see something suspicious. Did you know that your activity and service fees fund an escort service called Safe Team? If you find yourself needing to walk across campus after dark, call Safe Team to provide an escort to accompany you there safely. Additionally, we have increased the communication mechanisms on campus to help you know if there is an emergency. If you haven’t already done so, register now for MoBull Plus to receive emergency alerts and campus closing information via a text message to your cell phone. Save key phone numbers (e.g. the University emergency contact number 1.800.992.4231, the University Police non-emergency number 813.974.2629 and the University Operator 813.974.2011) in your cell phone so you have them handy when you need them.

Good citizenship is everyone’s responsibility. If we all take safety seriously, we will create a campus where we can live and learn together.

Division of Public Safety
Our Division’s overall objective is to ensure a safe and secure environment at USF that is conducive to living, learning, and working on campus. The Dean collaborates with faculty and staff to support the academic mission, with particular emphasis on the total learning environment.
