Crisis Information and Resources

The University of South Florida’s mission and purpose is to foster a learning environment that provides growth, development and safety for its community. Students who experience acute or long-standing emotional, behavioral and medical stresses are expected to assume primary responsibility for initiating early intervention and for maintaining prescribed treatment and behavioral plans. The Division of Student Affairs provides students with information about non-academic policies for disruptive and threatening behaviors. Failure to take responsibility for personal decisions affecting the health and safety of self or others may require University officials to take actions on behalf of the entire community.

The University stands by its commitment to provide the highest quality of education to each member of this University community. To this end, any behavioral incident which negatively impacts this learning potential becomes our responsibility to assess and to promulgate the necessary policies and or make available the appropriate resources to ameliorate and restore balance in an effort to preserve the individual and this community of learning. If determined in the best interest of community health and safety, the person in crisis may be removed from the University.

In all cases, the University wants to ensure that all community members have access to resources that may assist in times of crisis or personal trial. This website offers information about comprehensive professional and emergency care, both on campus and in the greater community for students, faculty, staff and administrators.
